Are dogs allowed? Allowed? They’re encouraged! We even have a costume category for them: Hellhounds & Handlers. Dogs only need to come in costume if they are participating in the costume contest…though considering it is a Halloween parade, we certainly hope they’d dress up even if they’re not participating! We do require that all Hellhounds be on leashes throughout the duration of the event, for both their safety and the safety of the little monsters in attendance.
Are strollers / bikes / wagons allowed? Yes to strollers and little wagons, especially if they’re decorated for the season. Bikes are allowed, but cannot be ridden during the parade, for the safety of all involved. Please no hoverboards, skateboards, rollerblades or any other wheeled transportation that is not used for the transportation of little monsters, revered elders or physically challenged. We encourage any transportation in the parade to be decorated to match the seasonal theme. Absolutely no motorized transportation is allowed unless it is registered as a float.
Where does the event begin and end? The parade begins at Pulaski Park, located at 162 Washington Street in Poughkeepsie. It will proceed through Little Italy to the Poughkeepsie Waterfront at Waryas Park. At the conclusion of the event, participants are welcome to either rewalk the route back to Pulaski Park, or take the Walkway Over the Hudson elevator to return to their point of origin. Where do we gather to start the parade? We will be gathering at Pulaski Park, 162 Washington Street in Poughkeepsie. The check-in table for those entering the costume competition opens at 11am. The parade will begin at noon. Please gather in the parking lot behind the floats and await further instructions from the Grand Witch of the Coven (she’ll be the woman with the loudspeaker.)
Will there be a place to leave my bag / jacket? Please leave anything you do not wish to carry in your car or at home. We do not provide lockers or any other facilities for the storage of items. We are not responsible for any lost items.

Where do I enter the costume contest? There will be a check-in table set up at Pulaski Park. Please stop by the check-in table to receive your bib number. Without a bib, you will not be considered a contestant. Each participant will receive their own bib, with the exception of team costumes, which must present themselves as a group with the single bib before the judges when the parade reaches the judging booth.
